Sleepover Fun

Sleepover Fun!
On February 9th we welcomed the great students, from West Meadow School in Claresholm and the Owen Sound School in Ontario, to our first student sleepover program of 2009. They were hungry and ready to be taught some history on Barn Dancing and some new dance steps. So we fed them some great Alberta roast beef with all the fixings. Then they were informed on the history of our barn and the history of barn dancing on the prairies. After the history lesson it was time to head upstairs. Our dance instructor Ron Reimann put them through the paces and had them looking pretty good by the time the dance was done. We then had a snack before rolling out the beds and tucking everyone in for the night. In the morning it was time for our Cowboy Pancake Breakfast and goodbyes as the students packed their bus and headed off into the distance.
Over 60 students attended and all of us here at the Barn were very impressed with the great attitudes and friendliness of these great students.
We would like to thank all the teachers and adults who made the trip with them for all of there help. Special thanks to Jo Anna Sutter and Kevin Bechlamp.

Barn Dance Cruise 2009

Barn Dance Cruise 09
235 Barn Dance folks headed south to San Diego on January 7 to take part in the first Barn Dance Mexican Riveria Cruise on the Carnival Cruise Ship the Spirit. Eight days of food, sun, fun, food, dancing, suntanning, food, games, night shows and did I mention FOOD?
What a great group of folks we travelled with. We had so much fun on the ship and the the three ports that we stopped at were abosolutley amazing.
All of this was put together by a great gal, Debbie Wakelam from Travel Only Tours. Thanks so much Debbie. Also special thank you's to the Executive Royal Inn and 1060 Classic Country Radio with Jimmy Hughes.
The Barn Dance All Stars played 3 times while on the ship with special guests, Kayla Patrick, Anne Shields, Candy Kunkel and the Rocky Mountain Fiddlers. It was a little different playing and dancing when the ship moved side to side, but we all sucked it up and made the sacrifice.
For everyone who came on the cruise, thank you for participating, we hope you all had a great time.
